Successful completion of this course will not only provide you with more confidence on a sailing boat but also provide you with the skills to join any crew of any race or cruising boat here or overseas. It also gives your full accreditation for a NSW Maritime approved power boat licence. It will teach you all the basics of sailing and boating and from this course, you can step up to Inshore Skipper and more ..

This course is taught aboard our Catalina 42'.

Syllabus Includes
Maritime Legislation and Rules of the 'Water' Road
Pre-departure checks, engine checks
Sail shape and trim
Man overboard procedure
Safety on board
Reducing sail area - Reefing and headsail changes
Tacking and Gybing, sheeting and winching
Boat handling Techniques
Anchoring and mooring
Buoys and beacons, lights and marks
Nautical terminology
Handling, securing & stowage of lines & use of knots
Crew responsibilities
Distress signals, flares
Understanding the weather

Format:	6 x 3 hour lessons on board (3 practical sailing lessons) or can be conducted over a weekend or 2 consecutive days

Result:	YA Competent Crew Certificate(upon successful completion)
